About Davina, your Singing Teacher
I am a singer, songwriter, and singing teacher with over 20 years of experience in opera, pop, soul, and jazz.
My journey began with opera. From the ages of 11 to 17, I studied the traditional Italian method with professional opera singer Agnès Chauvot, who now coaches singers at her studio attached to the Brussels Opera. Even though I was very young, those years gave me a professional level in opera performance. But my heart had always been drawn to jazz, soul, and the contemporary music I loved listening to.
Making that shift was not easy. In opera, I was an expert — but in contemporary singing, I discovered my chest voice and mix were almost non-existent. I had to go from a professional level back to less than a beginner, rebuilding my entire voice from the ground up. It took years of patience, study, and experimentation to develop the flexibility and strength required for modern styles.
I trained with modern vocal pedagogy methods, including CVT and approaches to mix voice and belting, and I continue to refine my skills through masterclasses and contemporary teachings.
This personal journey has given me a deep understanding of the challenges singers face when transitioning between styles, and I’ve since helped many classical singers make the same shift — freeing their sound and learning to sing pop and other modern genres with confidence.
For seven years, from 2009 to 2016, I performed with my pop-soul duo, receiving proposals from both major and independent labels, though we chose to remain independent. This experience deepened my understanding of both live performance and the recording world.
In 2017 and 2018, I created a best-rated Udemy singing course, first in French and then in English, which has since helped over 1,000 people improve their voices, alongside my one-on-one coaching sessions.
My mission is to give singers the tools to explore their voices fully — whether they are complete beginners or advanced performing singers, my students have always been a happy mixed bunch!
It’s always good to know that your singing teacher can sing
